Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-02
1. Scope
This policy governs your use of the Online Access network service operated at *.heywatch.tv subdomains and the supporting tunnel infrastructure. It does not govern the standalone HeyWatch app you run on your own hardware — that's yours.
2. What HeyWatch can and cannot see
We operate the tunnel as a passive carrier. We do not:
- Monitor, inspect, or filter the content flowing through your tunnel.
- Maintain logs of media URLs, file names, or stream contents.
- Have access to your media library, watchlist, or viewing history.
We do have access to:
- Connection metadata (IP, timestamps, bytes transferred) for capacity and abuse protection.
- Fleet registry events (server online/offline, version, hostname).
- Billing records.
3. Strictly prohibited
You may not use Online Access, in any form, to:
- Distribute child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Zero tolerance. Accounts will be terminated immediately and reported to NCMEC and appropriate authorities.
- Distribute malware, viruses, ransomware, or any code intended to harm others.
- Conduct fraud, phishing, identity theft, or financial crimes.
- Launch denial-of-service or other network attacks against any party.
- Operate command-and-control infrastructure for botnets.
- Violate the rights of others in ways that you know to be unlawful (e.g., distributing leaked private data).
- Resell the Online Access service as your own product.
4. Content that is your responsibility
Beyond the prohibitions above, you are responsible for the legality of media you load into your own HeyWatch server. This includes:
- Copyrighted content. Streaming or downloading copyrighted material you don't have rights to may violate local laws (e.g., DMCA in the US, EUCD in the EU, Argentina's Law 11.723). Liability rests with you, the user, not with the network operator.
- Region-restricted content.
- Anything that's lawful in some jurisdictions but not in yours.
Same principle as a VPN, a Dropbox account, or a USB drive: the tool is neutral; what you do with it is on you.
5. How we respond to complaints
Because we cannot see content, our response to abuse reports is limited:
- Valid DMCA-style notices: we will forward the notice to the subscriber and may suspend the subdomain/tunnel until resolution. See DMCA Policy.
- CSAM reports: immediate suspension and report to NCMEC.
- Network abuse reports (attacks, malware, fraud): we may suspend the tunnel and require remediation before reactivation.
- Repeat infringers: we maintain a repeat infringer policy and may terminate the account.
6. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate Online Access if you violate this policy. Suspended subscribers may export their account data within 30 days of termination. Pre-paid time is non-refundable for cause-based termination.
7. Reporting abuse
To report abuse of an Online Access subdomain, email abuse@heywatch.tv with:
- The subdomain in question (e.g.,
abc123.heywatch.tv). - A description of the conduct you're reporting.
- Evidence (screenshots, URLs, logs).
- Your contact information.
